Once you have seen the city and want to see more of the region, try hiking the Dilijan National Park. Due to the tireless work of many tourism enthusiasts, the hiking trail in the Park is well designed. If you are still up for another hike, navigate your way from Parz lake to Gosh lake. The hiking route again goes through a forest and Gosh village. There, you can also check out the Goshavank Monastery that was built in the 12th century and is still a very common stop for visitors year round. Don’t think of your main goal as the final destination, the whole scenery is absolutely stunning, so enjoy every bit of the surroundings during your hike. MONASTERIES AND NATURE OF SYUNIK REGION If you think your experience with nature in Tavush is over, the south of Armenia is a whole other story! This part of the country is completely different and you will discover many more sightseeings in the region than you can ever imagine. First, visit Tatev monastery and explore the beautiful gorges and mountains. You will then also see a set of different hikes described on a big sign near the monastery. These trails can take you to as many exotic places as you want. Want to experience some extreme? Take a trail that leads to the gorge to Devil’s Bridge, an exceptional natural wonders, situated in the canyon of Vorotan River with many mountainous springs around. Interested in seeing more of the history of the villages nearby the area? Hike to the villages nearby such as Old Harjis, Halidzor or further away Khndzoresk where it looks like you are in medieval times, experiencing history with what has been preserved in the region. READY FOR A BIG HIKE? GO UP A MOUNTAIN! Just as with variety of nature, Armenia also offers you different mountains you can go to, depending on the level of challenge you are looking for in a hike. Located nearby the capital Yerevan, Mount Ara is towards the middle of the Aragatsotn and Kotayk provinces’ border. The elevation of the mountain is about 2600m and with different seasons there are different activities you can try in the area. Hiking up to the peak, you can enjoy the unforgettable views of the mountain, radically different from what you may have seen in the other parts of the country. If you are up for more challenges, hike to the highest peak of Armenia - Mount Aragats. The mountain has four main peaks, the highest being the Northern peak with about 4090 meters. With each peak, there is a level of difficulty, so depending on how fit you are and what you are interested in seeing, you can choose your best option. The mountain has been praised many times in literature by some of Armenia’s most beloved poets. Everyone knows what a traditional Armenian family is: the father is the head of the family, the wife is a faithful helper, and the children are clever angels. But modern families are different from traditional ones. Armenian family The Armenian family is a state in the state. On the territory of the apartment in which the Armenians live, their own laws reign. In the family Armenian father is the king of the family. Who rules in Armenian family? According to the unwritten laws of the mountains, the opinion and desire of the head of the family – father, is law and is not negotiable. But there is one thing: the so-called “Hidden matriarchate” reigns in Armenian families — nothing will happen without the consent and approval of the wife. But proud men never admit it out loud. Progressive and the majority of Armenians believe that a woman can work only if she wants to. And earning money should be exercised exclusively by men. The destiny of a woman is to keep an eye on the home and bring up children. Children in Armenian families Children in Armenian families are a part of another story. The girls are the “princesses” and “beauties” for Armenian fathers who will do everything for them. But the attitude towards the Armenian boys is not so soft and sweet. The father’s duty is to raise a real man, a protector, and this cannot be achieved through constant sweet care. So the standard childhood of an Armenian boy consists of punishment, physical work, long monologues by their fathers and so on. Armenian hospitality There are legends about the hospitality of the Armenian people all over the world. On any occasion of joy, happiness or even sadness, it is necessary to set the table for your relatives and friends: at home, at work, etc. Be sure to drink and eat - if you do not do this, then you will offend the housewife who prepared all the food. The more often you lay the table (for any reason), the more will return to you – this is the truth that the Armenians believe in. Welcome to Armenia, let's discover the whole beauty of Armenia together with Gardman Tour.
